Denisse Velasco, a 19-year-old student, stated she was strolling from her house to the bus stop on her way to college early one morning when a taxi pulled up and the driver demanded she get in the vehicle. It was 11am on March 7, and also there was no one else around when a taxi pulled up close to her. The drive said, "Get in, they sent me for you.” Doubtful that any individual would have called a taxi for her without letting she know, Velasco chose to ignore the driver even after he started to yell at her and demand that she get into the car. She took off running to a regional drug store to hide and seek help. When she tried to report the situation to authorities, they told her she could have misinterpreted the situation. When she attempted to visit the attorney general's workplace, they said they could not possibly help her. Denisse stated, "I was in shock yet when I discussed what had actually occurred to the people inside they informed me the taxi was no more there." She posted her story on social media and pressure on authorities ultimately led them to admit that there had actually been 4 reports of missing women as well as five files for attempted kidnappings in the past few weeks. There had been several similar attempted kidnappings of girls in recent weeks across Guadalajara, in the western state of Jalisco. It is reported that a number of the alleged victims had actually encountered problems when they tried to report the incidents to the police.
