Myanmar Crisis with the Rohingya Rebels

Recent happenings within the Rohingya community prove that all is not well. This group are refugees from Myanmar, a Buddhist majority who frequently give accounts of events that portray human abuses. They cannot enjoy freedom due to the cases seriously affecting them, such as raping of the women, burning of their homes, beheading of men, and widespread killings of this population. Reports indicate around 71 people have been killed recently. Close to 20 police stations in the northern parts of the state experience assault by many up-risers using guns and home-made defence tools.

This force engaged the Myanmar army and the Rohingya activists who angrily assaulted the police in an attempt to fight for their rights. It is not the start of this major clash. The conflict between these two groups began last year. This particular scenario brings out the most horrible blood-spattered battle ever since the dispute began.

The skirmish erupted in a Rathedaung town. A throng of Myanmar have noticeably been camping at this spot for a couple of weeks. It happened after the exit of refugees' crossing the border into Bangladesh and also murder reports by unknown people. The commander-in-chief of the armed forces, Min Aung Hlaing says that the military and police forces are battling against revolutionary Bengali radicals, referring to Rohingya rebels.

Dozens of people ran for their lives and are hiding in different places. Myanmar State Counsellor, Aung San Suu Kyi gives an account that 12 security forces and 59 militants killed. There is increasing alarm for a large Rohingya group in the village of Zay Di Pyin in Rathedaung municipality who have been held captive since July by Buddhists fully armed with warheads.

The Rohingya, regardless of the many years of maltreatment, have never engaged in such violence. However, since October 2016, an unidentified militant group arose. It displayed a poster of the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army, which alleges to be the ring leader of a revolution that is based in the distant areas of May Yu, a mountainous region at the edges of Bangladesh.
