On June 23, 2016, a suspected rocket nose-cone washed up on one of the Japanese beaches and elicited mixed reactions from citizens and leaders from all across the globe. The nose is believed to be part of an advanced nose-cone from a North Korean rocket that is specifically tailored to protect the missile’s payload from damage.

The Japanese authorities have started to examine this suspected object, and it is yet to release an official statement. According to one of the members of the Ministry of Defense team that is probing this matter, they are carefully analyzing the nose, and the materials found inside to determine the level of technology that was used to make it. The nose weighs approximately 75 kilograms, is two meters long, and more than a meter wide.

This new occurrence has heightened concerns that North Korea could be on the verge of succeeding in making a modern day missile. On Wednesday, they fired two intermediate ballistic missiles into the atmosphere. The first one was considered a failure, but the second rocket rose up to 1,000 kilometers into the sky before landing in the Sea of Japan around 400 kilometers from the launch location.

The Japanese government is now concerned about the country’s national security and the wellbeing of its citizens. This is according to Admiral Katsutoshi Kawano, one of the top military commanders. One of their main concerns is that North Korea could commence using their nuclear bomb technology to create a warhead that can fit in the missile. On the other hand, Kim Jong Un, the North Korean leader, has said that the country is now ready to put up a strong fight against the U.S stakes in the Pacific. Considering the grave impact that a nuclear bomb could have on humanity and the environment, it is imperative for the world leaders to unite and resolve this issue comprehensively.
