Gary Howard Oliva, aged 52, is currently been held in the Boulder County Jail after he was charged in court for sexually molesting and exploiting a child named JonBenét Ramsey. Howard was arrested by Boulder Police Department, the same agency that has been trying to decipher what happened to the young girl on Christmas night, 1996.
According to an affidavit presented to the jury and used to support the arrest, Oliva uploaded more than twenty images of graphic child pornography to a Google email address. Some of the pictures featured girls aged between 4 and 7 years old taking part in sexual acts with an adult male whose face has been blurred. This evidence was made available to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children by Google and later on forwarded to Boulder Police through the Internet Crimes against Children task force.
In the affidavit, Oliva is described as a homeless man who repeatedly accessed child pornography through an IP address that was traced to the 5300 block of Western Avenue, Boulder. What raises more eyebrows is the fact that Oliva had used the same address back in October, 2015 to register as a sexual offender with the Boulder police. The affidavit also states that he again registered as a sexual offender with the City on June 1.
He was charged with two counts - one attempting to exploit a child sexually, and secondly, sexually exploiting a child. Both crimes were classified as class 4 felonies, and the judge ordered that he be held on a $10,000 bond. The preliminary hearing of this case is scheduled for July 11, 2016. It is also important to note that a number of suspects linked to the Ramsey child’s murder have been arrested and presented in court over the years by no one has been found guilty.
