In an operation dubbed “April’s fool”, at least 18 people were arrested suspected of child predation. This operation was a sting that took place from March 29 to April 4, 2016 and it involved central and state Florida Law enforcement agencies. The arrested men responded to ads placed by agents posing as children.
The group of arrested men included a Walt Disney security guard and a janitor at SeaWorld’s Discovery Cove. Polk County, Florida. Sheriff Grady Judd said, "Child predators are dangerous and out of control. They prowl the internet for your children -- children as young as 10 years old -- to teach them how to have sex. They arrive with candy and condoms and they leave in handcuffs and a one-way ride to the Polk County Jail."
All of the alleged crimes occurred outside the theme parks, except for two cases of child pornography possession on Disney premises.
Arrests included Walt Disney World’s security guard, Jeffrey Erich Binder, 26, of Winter Garden, Florida. News released from the Polk County Sherriff stated that Binder "arrived at the undercover location to have sexual intercourse with someone he believed was a 14-year-old girl."
The news release added, "While chatting online and texting, Binder told the undercover detective he wanted to do 'everything' sexual with her. He purchased and brought condoms to the undercover location."
Arthur Joseph Nelson, a 19 year-old janitor at SeaWorld’s Orlando Discovery Cove theme park, was also among the arrested. He also showed up at the undercover location to have sex with someone he believed to be a 14 year-old girl.
News release about his capture stated, "He sent her pictures of his genitals, and he bought condoms on the way to the undercover location. After his arrest, Nelson told detectives he knew the girl was 14 years old, he stopped at Walmart to buy condoms, he chatted with underage girls, but this was the first time he has 'done something like this' and he was 'high' and 'horny' and thought it seemed like a good idea,"
