Scots Angry over Trump’s View of Brexit

The controversial US presidential candidate Donald Trump was expecting a warm welcome in Scotland when he visited to officiate the grand opening of his new Trump Turnberry golf resort. To his surprise, he was greeted by an angry mob of protesters with golf balls that were embellished with Swastikas. The swastika is a widely used symbol of Nazi Germany.

The uproar was because of a tweet that he had sent out earlier that stated that the residents of Scotland are going wild following the decision by the United Kingdom to exit the European Union. Most of the Scots are angry about this tweet because a large number of them voted to remain in the EU. Another tweet that vexed the Scots stated that Scotland decided to take back their country just as the US citizens will take America back in the coming elections.

The Scots are of the idea that Donald Trump does not have a clue about Scotland’s goals and objectives. According to a report by the BBC, an overwhelming 62% of Scots and 32 council areas wanted the UK to remain in the European Union. However, 52% of people in the U.K supported the bid to leave EU, only 48% backed the bid to stay in the EU.

Donald Trump tweets got the attention of millions of people from in and outside the United Kingdom. Thousands of Twitter users including Lily Allen, renowned TV presenter Sue Perkins, and Peter Serafinowicz, an internationally recognized comedian, openly posted on their accounts that they feel Trump is a “moron” and an “idiot.” It is clear that Donald Trump is not informed about world politics.

The referendum results prompted U.K Prime Minister David Cameron to resign. Scotland’s unequivocal vote has elicited mixed reactions, and most people are of the idea there may be a need to hold an independent referendum to decide whether or not to remain in the European Union.
